Topic: SIMPLY A STRANGER 
Key Text: Hebrews 11:13 KJV - These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth.

No matter how a stranger is welcomed in a foreign country, he or she can never forget where he or she came from. Only a fool would get to another place and forget where he or she came from, maybe because of the comfort which was not available in one's background. There is no amount of luxury that would make me forget how I used to follow my parents to the farm, or where I came from. 1 Peter 2:11 KJV 

Joseph being second in command in Egypt never because of his position or comfort forgot the land of his nativity. Joseph would have been in the right position to forget his homeland, considering he was a young boy when he left his father's house, and the conditions surrounding his leaving. But look at what he told his people when he was about to die. "And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence (Egypt)". Genesis 50:25 KJV 

But why have believers forgotten that they are foreigners in this world? Most believers are living as if this earth is their permanent home. They are so comfortable with the things of the world that they forget they are strangers on earth. They are laying up treasures on earth, even when our Lord Jesus Christ told us not to do so. Most pilgrims are putting on sin and iniquity as clothes forgetting that their country of origin (heaven) is a holy place. Repent of your sins now, if you must return back home to meet the holy God in heaven. Matthew 6:19-21 KJV 

Prayer: O Lord, my God, please guide my heart with your Word, so that I may not because of the cares of this world, forget that I am a stranger on earth, in Jesus Christ's mighty name. Amen.

Reflection: If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. Colossians 3:1-2 KJV
