TOPIC: THE GODLY AND UNGODLY FEAR
KEY TEXT: Proverbs 8:13 KJV - The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

There are different types of fear and they are all controlled by a force called a spirit. We have the fear of God which is controlled by the Spirit of God. This kind of fear leads one to fear God and to do what is right in the sight of God. This kind of Spirit drives one far from doing evil or from sinning against God. The Spirit of the fear of God is the Spirit of Peace which is from God. Nehemiah 5:15; Proverbs 29:25 KJV

The fear of man is a sin against God. You cannot fear God and fear man at the same time. The fear of man subjects one to torment. Whoever you fear becomes God over you. You cannot correct who you subject yourself to. You are bound to agree with whoever or whatever you fear; either good or bad, right or wrong. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV 

Some people are fearful without anyone troubling them. Also, some Christians have in one way or the other subjected themselves to self-made bondage because of the fear of the unknown. They engaged their own minds to imagine evil to themselves and it starts manifesting before they realize it. The Lord Jesus Christ has told us not to worry over anything but most Christians worry over things that are not relevant and by so doing, subject themselves to the spirit of fear. 1 John 4:18

TAKE MY COUNSEL:
Do you want to be free from this tormenting spirit of fear? Love God and do his will. The Lord would become an enemy to your enemies. He would go before and behind you wherever you go and He would defend you that no evil would come near you. Exodus 23:22 KJV 

PRAYER: O Lord my God, grant me the grace to love you and to obey your word. Let every self-imposed bondage of fear be taken away from me; in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Reflection: Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man. Ecclesiastes 12:13 KJV
